This Deep Dive report uncovers how faith and cultural champions and entertainment media are shifting harmful gender and social norms that shape the lives of adolescent girls and young women in Nigeria. Drawing on evidence from 21 interventions, it highlights successes and challenges in tackling child marriage, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and women’s economic empowerment. The findings reveal the transformative power of trusted community leaders and culturally resonant media platforms, while calling for stronger measurement, sustainability, and context-sensitive approaches. A must-read for implementers, policymakers, and researchers seeking practical insights to design and scale effective, norms-shifting interventions.
